There is not a lot to say this week.
A big thank you to Barry Nicholls for organising Trivia night last Tuesday. There is a lot to be said for a light hearted social night with a few laughs and good friends.
Please support our upcoming events. Next Tuesday our speakers are Maya Ranzinger and Kathleen Murray talking to us about science and technology.
On the 29th we will be visiting Howick Coastguard. This visit was originally scheduled a few weeks ago but was held over because the boat was being repaired and they plan to take some of us for a ride all being well.
Don't forget Marie's fundraising challenge as part of her exchange program. She is holding a fundraising evening at the bowling club on Friday 1st June and intends that funds raised be used to purchase an ERK (Emergency Response Kit). These Rotary kits are deployed in times of emergency to assist those in need. Large numbers were shipped to Fiji with the help of RNZAF immediately after Cyclone Winston. We will see you there. It is a great cause.
On Saturday 16th June we have our annual planting day at Mangemangeroa. Our club has supported this great restoration work carried out by the Friends of Mangemangeroa ably led by Allan Riley and Jim Duckworth for many years. The results are amazing with trees planted by club members covering large expanses of this treasured asset to our community. As usual those attending will be fed and "watered" afterwards.
My thought to share:
I was smiling yesterday
I was smiling today
and I will be smiling tomorrow,
simply life is too short to be unhappy about small, worthless things.
Be happy and have a great week
Gavin
