It was the turn of Labour candidates Nerissa Henry (Pakuranga) and Naisi Chen (Botany) to present the parties key policies to the members of the club on Tuesday night. As Covid lock down conditions prevented a meeting at the Howick Club venue a Zoom meeting was set up which 22 members attended including Eliza Ning from the Hong Kong Harbour Club doing a remote make up.
Between them Naisi and Nerissa, who were introduced by President Elect Harjit Singh, covered a range of subjects including Labour's 5-point plan for recovery after Covid, the new Matariki public holiday from 2022 onward, AMETI, care for the environment and assistance for small businesses. A range of questions from individual members including the big referendum issue of the legalization of recreational Cannabis created a lot of interest and were well answered.Nerissa Henry

In thanking the speakers Rob Mouncey said that it was good to see two diverse, energetic, aspiring young women making their mark in politics.

As an aside we also got an update on the pandemic in Hong Kong and an interesting view on the question of democracy from Eliza following some questions for Secretary Garry.

Sergeant Ian Fox closed the meeting with a thank you to Dave Wylie for arranging it via his Zoom software.
