Last Saturday Rotary members from Howick and Sommerville, members of the Chinese association, and members of the public took part in our annual tree planting at this wonderful asset to our community.

Allan Riley and Jim Duckworth have dedicated many years to this restoration project and our community owes them and other members of “Friends of Mangemangeroa” a huge debt of gratitude.

Their hard work and persistence is yet another example of “service before self.” 1,000 trees and shrubs were planted. I still marvel at how big some of the trees I planted years ago are now. Imagine what it will be like in 50 years time!
