This week’s focus was on our committee meetings. These are an essential part of our Rotary service and what comes out of them is our reason for being - namely projects and services that ultimately help make our community and our world a better place.
Bookarama is in full swing. A huge amount of work has already been done collecting and sorting books. John tells me that we have more books than ever which means they all need to sorted and moved.
The pressure is on so a request to everyone including members, families and friends, other organisations and individuals we have supported to help out so we can continue to do what we do.
Friday 5th 9:30 – sorting
Saturday 6th 10:00 – the big shift of books to the sales tables (lots of muscle required)
Sunday 7th 2:00 – continue set up
Monday 8th 9:30 – continue set up
Tuesday 9th 9:30 – get ready for sale
6:00 – 9:00 Early Bird sale ($20 entry)
Wednesday 10th – Saturday 13th 9:00 – 5:00 daily
Sunday 14th 9:00 – 3:00 Final day
3:00 – 6:00 clean up (lots of muscle required)
At the end of each Bookarama there is always a huge sense of achievement and in particular relief from those who carry so much of the load. Please give them all the support that they deserve.
The following week (16th) we have a complete change of pace. After all the hard work of Bookarama it is to be a night of fun and relaxation. We are having a movie night. Time for companionship and laughter. Bring a friend or two!
On 23rd Ingrid Waugh, our District Governor, is making her official visit to our club so mark that in your diary and lets have a great turnout of Rotarians, wives and partners.
Membership is a priority this year. I personally want to see us increase membership by 10 during my term as president. Who do you know that could enhance our clubs activities? If you want advice on when and how to get them along talk to Ian Fox or anyone on the membership committee.
From Mother Teresa some inspiration for a week of hard work
“In this life we cannot do great things.
We can only do small things with great love.”
Thank you for all you do.
