Past President Geoff’s Message
Hello Everyone
It was my pleasure to stand in for President Mike who is currently on Holiday in Fiji with Pat. We all hope they are having a wonderful time.
Tonight we were all thrilled to hear from Madita Plies who has recently returned from France following a year long experience as a Rotary International Student. She was joined by members of her family and friends. mother Birgit, father Holger, sisters Rabia and Inka, Rabia’s partner Will and an exchange student Elise from France. Gavin Green kept in regular contact with Madita and we received numerous reports from her during her stay. She was given a vote of thanks by David Fels.
As Rotarians we should all be proud of the outstanding work we do in sponsoring students to go overseas each year. Our work with Howick college by sponsoring students to attend various educational Rotary training programmes is also something to be very proud of. For a relatively small club we certainly “punch way beyond our weight” in so many ways. Just to name a few events -
Bookarama - The Fun Run-Brit&Euro Car Show - Santa Parade - Coastguard fund raising.
The hours and hours of time given by so many hard working members is staggering and sometimes overlooked. A Big Big thankyou to all those who give up their time so willingly year after year - your effort is so much appreciated by all of us.
The Brit & Euro Car show held on the 1st March was an outstanding success. Well over 1000 fabulous cars and a record number of visitors. An excellent team of Rotarians ran the Club BBQ led by Gavin Green.
Thank you to the many members and partners that made it so enjoyable.
Kind Regards to you all
