This evening we welcomed our Rylarians back to speak which is always an enjoyable evening.
Also attending we has Ross who is a prospective member. It was a good night for him to see a little bit of what we do outside of our meetings.
Carole was invited up to receive her President Elect pin as incoming president. Thank you Carole for stepping in to the role in 2025/2026.
It was a pleasure to inform the rest of our members that Bill Charkow received a Paul Harris Fellowship award for his services to RYLA. Well done Bill.
Jeff Thompson updated us all on the replacement plaques for the Howick 175th Memorial and the Stockade Hill plane table. Plaques will be in granite and the cost will be shared with or club, Howick Masons and the Howick RSA. This is a great outcome.
After dinner, Dave Wylie introduced our Rylarians, Alice Loretto and Josh “Ernie” Earnslaw. Alice and Josh related their experiences and once again we heard about high quality presenters, and past Rylarians getting involved. Also many of our club members were seen by them contributing. As expected, the away trip made quite the impact.
They both seemed to be genuinely moved by their experience and grateful for the opportunity.
Alice and Josh thanked David Wylie and David Owen for their support through the interview and preparation process.
Winners of the raffles were
- Have a Go
- 1st Heather Savory
- 2nd John Savory
- Food Vouchers
Sergeant Mike showed no mercy once again fining as many members as possible but falling foul himself when his smart watch rang during the presentation. He had to seek Rylarian help after the meeting to learn how to mute the device.
Thank you all for attending and I look forward to our next meeting on 22/6/25.
Mike Stanghan
President.
