What a wonderful celebration of a great organisation! More than 90 Rotarians and guests joined together to mark the transition from president 57 to 58. Our DG, two AGs, 5 neighbouring presidents, 2 local body politicians, family and friends added to the occasion.
I would like to thank everyone who went to such great lengths to decorate the room and tables in the colours of our new international President’s theme of “Be the inspiration.”
James Donovan our laconic MC was the entertainment for the evening and kept us all laughing and wondering what’s happening next. An excellent choice!
I really like the way our Rotary club acknowledges special people in our community. Last night it was Judy Pascoe and Dorothy Osborne and I would like to endorse the comments of Colin Monk and John Osborne who made the commendations in each case. We are fortunate to have such wonderful people in our community.
Over the past 17 changeovers I have heard comments about the weight of this presidential chain, and physically it is quite heavy, and I have spent some time reflecting on what that symbolises.
