Well what a week for Howick Rotary! On last Sunday we held a very successful Howick Walk and Run starting and finishing at Stockade Hill. A huge turnout, over 500 by some estimates, and a huge credit to all involved. A special thanks to the organising committee in particular John Osborne and Colin Monk whose dedication is an example to all Rotarians. I understand that John was even checking up with Colin from his hospital bed! Now that is dedication.
On Tuesday the club made its annual pilgrimage to Howick Historical village and as usual there was much to admire and a lot of fellowship to be enjoyed. 40 people including wives, and guests made it a special occasion. Our thanks go to the village staff and Rob Mouncey.
This coming Sunday 25th we have a family picnic at the home of Lynda and Bruce Matthews near Pukekohe. On their beautiful property they farm Alpacas and also have some highland cattle. If you have never seen alpacas up close they are beautiful animals and very docile. Don’t forget to bring your picnic basket.
This coming Tuesday 27th we are hosting Howick Radio. It is a family and friends evening and an opportunity to understand what it takes to run a genuine community radio station in today's multimedia world.
Please note two important dates:
3rd April - The Club will be at Remuera Golf Club to listen to Aurora Zacarias a truly inspiring speaker. More about her in next week's Keyway.
3rd July - Changeover Night to be held at the bowling club. Put it in your diary.
The club are delighted to have our participation and I am sure we can set up a "Savory" enclave so we can chat among ourselves as well as the other attendees and also participate in the activities. I suggest that each family organise lunch for their group and then we can pool it if we feel so inclined. A picnic table and some chairs and some crockery and tools and if you have one a gazebo may be a good idea. Remember there is a barbecue available so you can bring some meat if you wish but there will be sausages etc provided (see flyer).
Can you let me know ASAP the numbers (plus or minus one or two will be near enough) so the club can do some planning.
How to get to the venue, 66 Jericho Road, Pukekohe East?
