OUR GUEST SPEAKER
We were pleased to welcome Jenny Naley-Manager of the Sowers Trust at our meeting tonight.
She was introduced by Garry Donoghue and illustrated her speech with an excellent Power Point presentation. The Trust was established in 1988 and is based at the Howick Community Church in Picton St Howick. It employs 4 full time and 2 part time Social workers and its goal is to provide Strength and Hope to Children,Youth and Families in our Community. They offer Social programmes, Mentoring groups and Family Support.
Jenny was thanked by Jim Donovan . The contribution made in our Community by the Sowers Trust is outstanding and for many their help will be recognised for many years to come.
BOOKARAMA
Colin Monk spoke to us about progress with this major fund raising project. Sorting is going well on Tuesday and Thursday mornings 9.30am to 12 noon at the RSA in Wellington St (downstairs in the basement). Remember many hands make light work so if you have not found the time so far to help then please give it some thought. Any help is appreciated-please don’t leave it to the few that are regular helpers. John Osborne has about 10000 leaflets for members to drop in letter boxes Please make sure you take a bundle and indicate on the map the area you can cover. The good news this year is that we are only distributing 1 flyer which is double sided (last year we had 2 flyers dropped off in letter boxes 2 weeks apart so less walking for all of us!!).
KEYWAY
Just a reminder to carefully read the Keyway each week to make sure you are prepared for the duties that may have been allocated to you. If you are unable to help then it is your responsibility to ask someone else to stand in for you. Please communicate the change to the Sergeant Glen Donaldson. To view the speaker programme in full simply clik on “view entire list”under the Speakers section on the front page. We have an excellent speaker coming up on the 11th September Richard Waugh- don’t miss this one-he is good!!
OVERSEAS TRAVELLERS
