Yet again our club had the privilege of inducting a new member. Kerry Powell was inducted during our annual visit to Howick Historical Village. It was appropriate to hold the ceremony there because Kerry is the General Manager of the village. We are delighted to have her in our club and look forward to getting to know her. Many of us took the opportunity to tour Kerry’s domain and it was a reminder of what a wonderful asset the Village is to our community and country. A beautiful setting on a beautiful evening.
Kerry Powell – our newest member
We may not be meeting as frequently but members need to complimented on the level of activity going on. Members were involved as marshals and sausage sizzlers on a very busy day. I managed to give away 150 flyers telling the community about our activities. There were over 1,000 classic cars at Lloyd Elsmore Park some exotic and some not so exotic. I heard that one rolls Royce was for sale for a mere $6,000,000!!!! Estimates range from 15,000 to 20,000 visitors.
Bookarama will have a new venue this year because the RSA is getting renovated. You will hear more about this soon.
Speaking of new venues you have all received the board’s recommendation about our clubs venue. Our next meeting is on Tuesday 19th at the bowling club and there will be an opportunity for discussion about the recommendation.
At that meeting the focus will be on club business and Bill Charkow will talk to us about how other clubs are changing and some of their ideas and experiences. See you there.
